How to Choose the Right Thickness for Your PVC Bags
When ordering custom packaging from Quanzhou Lvfeng Packaging, one of the specifications we ask is: "What thickness do you need?"
If you are new to packaging, this can be confusing. Thickness is usually measured in Microns or Mil. Choosing the wrong thickness can lead to bags that tear (too thin) or bags that are too stiff and expensive (too thick).
Here is a quick guide to help you decide:
1. Light Duty (0.10mm - 0.15mm / 100-150 Microns)
Feel: Flexible, lightweight, and cost-effective.
Best For: Small items like cosmetics, stationery, socks, or lightweight clothing.
Advantage: Lower shipping cost and lower unit price.
2. Medium Duty (0.15mm - 0.20mm / 150-200 Microns)
Feel: Sturdy but still flexible. This is the industry standard for most retail packaging.
Best For: Hair extensions, swimwear, t-shirts, and electronic accessories.
Advantage: Perfect balance between durability and cost.
3. Heavy Duty (0.20mm - 0.30mm+ / 200-300+ Microns)
Feel: Very thick, stiff, and premium.
Best For: Heavy blankets, comforter sets, pillows, and hardware tools.
Advantage: Can hold significant weight without stretching or tearing. Often used with wire frames for bedding.
